Meet Adeline Simms the founder and CEO of Diva Addy’s Events based in Maryland. Here she answers a series of questions that reveal a little more about who she is and what motivates her.

Diva Addy’s Events is an award-winning event planning company that helps couples plan their weddings. “My goal is to relieve couples from the stress involved in planning their wedding themselves.”
2. What motivated you to become and event planner?
I chose to be an event planner, specifically a wedding planner, because I’m genuinely passionate about wedding planning. I love the whole process from beginning to end, with the bonus of gaining the experience and the relationships that I form with the couples and their families.
3. Tell us about your current role as a wedding planner?
I help couples execute their dream, ensuring that everything runs smoothly. As a wedding planner, my responsibilities include establishing a planning timeline and working with the bride and groom to choose everything from attire, to ceremony and reception venues, music, and food. I am responsible for executing every aspect of the event – so that everything is perfect for the couple, the family, and guests on the big day.
4. What sorts of wedding packages do you offer your clients?
I offer various packages that represent different levels of involvement in the planning of the wedding. For example, a coordination package may include managing logistical details on the actual wedding day only, while full-service planning additionally includes months of coordinating details such as wedding budget, vendors, venue, etc.
5. What are some of the wedding trends for 2020?

6. What advice do you have for couples planning their wedding in 2020?
Start planning as soon as you pick a date! Don’t wait until a few months out, because both expenses and stress will skyrocket. Decide on your budget, don’t spend unnecessarily. Have a wedding you can afford! A wedding planner can help you find vendors at multiple price points and help save you a lot of money, time and stress.
7. What are the three things you are most grateful for?
Life, Love and Laughter all of which I’m very fortunate to have with my Family.
8. What’s your favorite thing to do when you aren’t working?
I love to travel, experience different cultures – the food, the architecture, the art! I’m also addicted to creative and design shows.
9. What is your message to young aspiring African entrepreneurs?
One of the best ways to learn a trade is by volunteering – you may not get paid, but you will get direction from someone who already has a good deal of professional experience, and you can easily watch and learn! It’s the fastest way to gain technical skills.
10. What motto or the advice you live by?
I fully live my life by the golden rule – Be kind to others and treat others as you want them to treat you!
